Mercedes-Benz plugs into the future with the 2022 EQS

News summary: Mercedes lovers have great news! The all-new Mercedes Benz EQS is set to hit the market soon!

An all-electric limousine will be hitting the Australian car market very soon in 2021. The vehicle is packed with an inbound AMG modification, advanced self-governing technologies, and a widescreen dashboard. Introducing the S-class version of the electric car, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS. The vehicle has been officially revealed right before its Australian launch, which will take place in December 2021.

The EQS will be placed right on top of the Mercedes-Benz passenger car’s category along with the all-EQS lineup. The vehicle comes with flexible electrical construction and an aerodynamic concept-inspired design.

The performance

There will be two EQS variants that will be available during the launch, such as the all-paw EQS 580 4Matic and rear-wheel-drive EQS 450+. The rear axle of the 450+ model is powered through a single eATS electric motor assembly. Doing so will send 568Nm and 245kW to the road for 6.2-second with a sprint time of 0 to 100km/h. Along with that, the electronically-limited top-speed of the EQS 450+ model will be 210km/h. For the EQS 580 4Matic, the vehicle comes with another electric motor, which is located on the front axle.

The power produced through the front axle delivers 855Nm and 385kW to the four wheels for 4.3 seconds and 0 to 100km/h dash. These two upcoming electric cars in Australia also comes with an identical top-speed timer of 210km/h.

The range

The Mercedes Benz eqs will have two battery packs, the 107.8kWh Lithium-ion battery packs and the 90kWh Lithium-ion battery packs. The 107.8kWh battery pack will help in delivering a maximum driving range within the WLTP cycle of 770km.

Mercedes have declared EQS to be one of the largest electric cars in Australia and have only been beaten by the claims of the upcoming Tesla Model S Plaid Plus 837km. The range of the brand-new EQS model is not extracted from any normal lithium-ion battery. It’s because this all-new model from Mercedes-Benz is packed with a brand-new generation of batteries along with a new battery management software. This particular software also comes with over-the-air updates and has been developed in-house.

Charging system

Although these electric SUVs don’t carry the 800-volt system like the Porsche Taycan, it’s a 400-volt system that delivers fast DC charging at a speed of 200kW. If you want the charge to be from 10 to 80%, you need to wait around 31 minutes for it. The charging system of the vehicle is pretty powerful. It’s because the system can add around 300km of range within 15 minutes of charging.

This is something only the 450+ variant can provide, but the 580 4Matic will permit about 280 extra kilometers within the same period. The batteries are of high capacity and are coated up by regenerative braking as the system provides up to 290kW of charging capacity within all-wheel-drive models.
